Travertine Tile Fireplace

Should we paint our fireplace mantle, or stain it?

We had a new fireplace mantle built for our house, and we can’t decide if we should paint it to match the cabinetry (off white) in the house, or stain it (warm wood) to match the hardwood floors.

What wood is it made of? Any wood that has some graining to it , I think staining looks the best.If is is made of a pine or poplar I d go w/ paint to match other trim..Still it s your call GL
